In Mears Michigan a four family building formerly a Baptist church burned Friday. Susie Riggs five Beatrice Alexander fourteen and her ten year old brother Allen died. Jerry Riggs escaped with burns as six adults fled. Fire origin undetermined. Mears has no fire department requiring Hart firefighters to haul gear by snowplow four miles to reach the scene. The building was demolished.

Douglas Dustin Dies In Japan
Pfc. Douglas Dustin 18 of Minneapolis died in a Japan hospital December 5 after being wounded in Korean fighting. He served in the First Marine Division.
