Farmers Not To Blame At Kiwanis Luncheon
Wisconsin Agri- Business Council executive director Russel R. Weisensel told La Crosse Kiwanis members that farmers subsidize the public by keeping prices down and supplying abundant food. He noted Americans spend 15.6 percent of wages on food now versus 42.7 percent in 1919, and that beef demand keeps prices up while farmers produce enough for the nation and export surplus.
