U S Planes Hit Suspected Red Bases
U S fighters and bombers struck suspected Red bases and supply routes in South Viet Nam as ground skirmishing eased. The 1st Infantry Division fought near the Miche Lin plantation 40 miles northwest of Saigon, capturing a North Vietnamese regular. Air actions included 408 combat strikes in the South and reduced missions on North Viet Nam. The carrier Kitty Hawk’s crew fought onboard fires, two sailors died, and 29 were injured.
