Three school commissioners to be selected by the common council Friday night to replace Evans Gund and Luening whose terms expire January first. No new candidates have been announced.
Mrs W S Hayes of 1233 Avon street learns by telegram from Chicago a railroad man husband aged 45 died in that city. Surviving are wife two children Leslie 13 Ethel 15 and brother Oscar. No funeral plans until Chicago details arrive. Coroner in Chicago reportedly knows nothing of the case suggesting natural causes.
A joint congressional committee delivered the president a reading of his message outlining government intervention in insurance and corporations and strict railroad rate control. The message stresses national prosperity, flood and drought risks, and the need for high individual character among workers and citizens.
Madison dispatch reports Governor La Follette will resign as governor during the special session and accept the United States Senate as he details proposed amendments to primary election law, rail taxes, ballot reform, and insurance investigations. Mrs Golla Nelson aged 87 died at noon at 1112 Rose Street where she boarded with Mr and Mrs J J Knuteson. Born in Norway she came to the United States after her husband’s death nineteen years ago. Surviving relatives include her son Christ Nelson of 813 Badger Street and sister Mrs Minne Gosso in the country. Funeral from the residence Friday at 2 and service at Charles Street Lutheran Church at 2:30.
Otto Loeffler a member of the board of education was appointed by Judge Brindley as administrator of his brother H A Loeffler’s estate. The deceased left property valued at $4500.
