Wisconsin Memorial Library to Open Great 5 Million Book House
UW staff describe the planned Memorial Library complex on the lower campus as a modern, air conditioned two level stacks building with space for 50 000 rare books and a two level expansion. They cite faster processing from cataloging to reader access within 48 hours and a pneumatic tube system with a book conveyer and flash board for deliveries. The new facility will include a passenger elevator, a microfilm reading room, and a permanent exhibit room for Audubon Birds of America original folios.
