Elm Grove district electors in Shelby will meet Tuesday at 8 p m in the school to adopt a budget and hear plans from the school board for the coming year. The meeting follows last Tuesday’s election of a new board after district recreation by town boards and the La Crosse council. The board proposes sending up to 30 pupils to Teachers College rural room and 25 to the La Crosse system on a tuition basis with taxi transport for the latter. About 89 of 144 students in grades 1 through 7 would remain in the three rooms of the school. A tentative budget has been drawn. A request for a hearing from State Superintendent George Watson seeks to keep Elm Grove independent, while a resident seeks to overturn the recreation decision and attach the district to the city system. An attachment order issued May 4 was revoked August 15.
