Tomorrow will mark La Grosse closing doors at noon for a booster celebration. Mr Doerflinger reports all manufacturers merchants and shopkeepers have agreed to close for a big goodwill gathering. Committee forecasts a great occasion.
Hundreds from Spring Grove Rushford and nearby towns plan to attend the Booster Day celebration in La Crosse. A special train will serve residents only, with outsiders barred. Officials expect about 15 000 attendees as businesses close and factories halt operations for the event.
A white bride Miss Jennie Eno and Morris Wicks a colored porter wed Aug 14 at the bride’s home with a minister’s reluctant consent after the white fiancée declared her love.
Two drummers at the Stoddard hotel grabbed what they believed was Palmer’s buggy and drove around town after lighting cigars. They later returned to Palmer’s livery and learned the rig actually belonged to Simon Bros. of La Crosse News, who had reported it stolen. Emil Loebel, an Milwaukee outfielder in the Michigan league, will join La Crosse today at Fond du Lac after terms were accepted. A telegram to Mannel Hawley indicated this before he left for Chicago. No word from Dodge or O'Dea yet. Hawley plans to pursue other players if needed.

In Camden New Jersey on August 20 Mrs Anna Horner and Victoria Natalia were found murdered in their farm home. The husband awoke to a burning barn and during the blaze burglars entered the house stealing watches and money before killing the two women.
