Soviet forces evacuated the Allied Kommandatura building in Berlin and hauled down their flag. The fourpower administration to Berlin ended after three years as the Russians withdrew July 1 saying the Kommandatura no longer exists. An Allied spokesman noted the command post was in the Soviet sector.
Mrs. Ok sana Stepanovna Kosenkina rejected a Soviet vice consul’s offer to move her from Roosevelt hospital after injuring herself by leaping from the Soviet consulate. Detectives reported she declared you kept me a prisoner and refused transfer as police kept guard outside. The interview ended with the vice consul’s suggestion and her refusal.

Milwaukee report says Nicholas A. McGrath 57 former Bucyrus-Erie officer pleaded guilty to embezzlement and obtaining money by false pretenses. Circuit Judge Edward Gehl allowed McGrath to serve under the Haver law, permitting daytime work with nights in the county jail.

John Hoffman, 32, indicted for murder in the death of his wife Mollie Hoffman, 24, in their Chicago apartment. Her body was found in an abandoned Rock Arbor state park trailer in Juneau county Wisconsin on June 5 after Hoffman, a truck driver, was said to have knocked her down and moved her to a radiator struck head during a quarrel. He testified at a coroner's inquest that he drove her to Wisconsin. The couple's two children, Robert and Janice, live with Hoffman's parents in Melville Saskatchewan.
