Belgrade reporting that Andrei Vishinsky warned the West about a Danube conference in which the eight eastern bloc nations including Yugoslavia Romania and Hungary can push any decision if united. Austria remains an observer after seven to two vote with France abstaining. Vishinsky called the Western ultimatum a dictatorial stance by bosses and corporations.
Linde Carroll of Grand Rapids was named Miss Michigan 1948 after a 13 judge selection from 23 contestants. The 21-year-old brunette will represent Michigan at the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City on September 6, hoping the title boosts a radio career she has pursued for years.
