In Alexis Alabama on August 1 a white farm superintendent's wife Nettie Gibson eight year old brother and a Black man Bill Walker are central to a fatal stabbing and arson incident. Walker allegedly slashed a boy and forced Mrs Brown to flee to woods then fired on Brown fatally wounding him. A mob later fatally harms Walker and a Black woman who fled with him remains at large. The event ends with no further race troubles expected.
Parkersburg West Virginia bulletin reports sisters Jessie and Lulu Metz arrested on murder charges for poisoning ex Judge James A Watson whose body was found on his home porch with $2000 missing. Police seek alleged male accomplices.
In Paris on August 1 twenty five thousand plumbers and gasfitters walked off their jobs demanding higher pay and shorter hours. All plumbing work is suspended.
