Mrs George Dalton Dies Suddenl y In City Home
Mrs George H Dalton aged 64 died suddenly at 131 South Ninth Street at 12 30 AM from heart disease. She was in good health on retiring at 11 PM and husband tried restoratives. Born in Ohio in 1844 she lived in the city over 30 years and leaves husband three daughters and three sons, plus two sisters. Carl Dalton, a theatrical man, and Mrs Dunlap from Indianapolis will arrive to assist. Funeral arrangements pending.

Sparta Wisconsin April 30 A. C. Cole born 1838 Danby Vermont and Mary Gleason born 1840 Ireland celebrated their golden wedding yesterday at 649 Franklin Street with a reception and reunion by Rev Pugh. They married in Danby Vermont April 29 1868 and lived in Monroe county Wisconsin since 1868 later moving to Sparta. Three children T E Lindah Duluth James Cole Cataract and C G Brandstrom Sparta attended with grandchildren.

Prefers Prison to County Jail in Juvenile Case
Leon Thomas a 19 year old bellboy at the Stoddard was sentenced to one year at the Green Bay reformatory at his own and his father’s request. The elder Thomas, an express messenger between Winona and Huron, had earlier consulted Judge Buck of Winona who advised Green Bay or state prison rather than county jail. Judge Brindley of La Crosse concurred. They argued county jail would expose the youth to interaction with older crooks who influence younger inmates, so they chose the reformatory for stricter discipline and no prisoner contact.

A fire at the old Judge Kleeber property at Twenty fourth and Main, recently bought by Sadie Stone, totally destroyed the building and contents. Inmates escaped with little clothing as flames swept the roof at 3 am. Insured and under land contract, the cause remains undetermined with theories of incendiarism or faulty wiring. Neighbor Mike Lyons witnessed the blaze.

Representative Heflin of Alabama paid not less than 2500 plus all medical and hospital expenses to settle with Thomas McCreary the New York horseman he accidentally wounded during a shooting on a Washington street car.
