The community marks the thirtieth anniversary with a banquet honoring the institution’s standing. Leaders praise its service and resilience as residents reflect on two decades of impact and growth.
Dr George Vincent president of the University of Minnesota called the Y M C A a powerful force for the common good and lauded La Crosse founders at the thirty year banquet in the Masonic Temple. About 200 citizens and guests attended with tables and groups representing association activities. John M Holley Sr praised the founders and noted giants of those days who aimed at moral physical and mental uplift. banquet featured a Y M C A orchestra and Toastmaster George W Burton.
Temperature in La Crosse over the past 24 hours peaked at 64 and dropped to 38 with no precipitation. Forecast calls for fair conditions tonight and Tuesday with warmer readings. regional notes cite generally fair weather in Minnesota and Iowa, with scattered clouds and warmer temperatures expected in several areas.

Factory, carpentry, iron and steel workers joined, with leaders predicting over half a million on the strike by Wednesday. Some workers stayed at work to avoid paralyzing the country.
In Pittsburg April 14 Miss Ethel Fisher testified in court against S. L. Heeter superintendent of the city schools. Indicted on two counts by the grand jury after Miss Fisher described an incident in Heeter's home she alleges he hugged and kissed her while she was sweeping the hall.
In a riot on the Boston Post Road work at Mamaroneck a crowd of about 400 strikers clashed with police and special deputies. One Italian worker was killed and James C. Cody, a special policeman, was seriously wounded. At least three more laborers were believed shot.
The Interstate Commerce Commission suspended proposed rate increases of five cents per hundred pounds on wheat and corn moved in carload lots from Omaha and Missouri river points to Wisconsin. The suspension lasts until August 13.

Henry Meyers a La Crosse Stone quarryman is recovering at home after a fight with fellow worker Charles Lemke. Meyers says Lemke struck him with a fourteen pound sledge hammer during a dispute, knocking him unconscious and wounding a blood vessel in the scalp.
New York April 14 Attomey Frank L Polk may be named to head the port of New York replacing William Loeb Jr Friends in Washington said his nomination would be sent to the senate on Tuesday or Wednesday Polk has strong backing led by Secretary of the Treasury McAdoo and has previously served as president of New Yorks municipal civil service commission.
Patrolman Hugo Kelling of the Milwaukee police force was arrested by detectives on a highway robbery charge. He is accused of masking himself and holding up Edward Gall, secretary of a local bowling club, stealing about 59 dollars in club receipts from Sunday night.

J Pierpont Morgan's burial in Hartford and New York followed a simple service at St Georges church. The cortege included police guards and a large procession from the Morgan home to the church then to Grand Central Station for a special train to Cedar Hill cemetery in Hartford.
