Rome April 10 Pope Pius X rallied this afternoon and spoke with Cardinal Merry del Val papal secretary of state. He said he was determined to recover and would celebrate Mass May 11 if able. The pontiff's condition had improved after a morning of weakness and fever subsided.
Angelo Sarto brother of Pope Pius X cried openly as he left the pontiff’s sick room in Rome. The rural mail carrier arrived after a physician’s telegram, but the pope did not know he had been summoned and he was told Sarto came on business.
