Maple Sugar Plentiful Despite Camp Bottlenecks in Viroqua

Maple sugar season runs well with record sap flow and a Williams camp claim of 40 barrels in a day. Camps lack sufficient tank storage to hold sap before boiling, risking loss as sap runs away. Williams camp uses up-to-date boiling gear and a man-stirred process to prevent scorching. Local notes include Westby’s Lawrence Grimsrud in town for legal matters and Henry Rogers adding an Oliver typewriter, plus Col R B McCoy's Sparta muster visit for Viroqua band recruitment.

Local notes include church muster and band quarters

The muster from the National guard will be public and likely held at the high school or Tabernacle depending on the weather. The Williams building second story will house band quarters as completion advances. Elmer Hestethune and Miss Bessie Halvorson wed at Kickapoo church with a wedding feast at the bride’s home.
