Firefighters stop new Jackson blaze
A second major Jackson County forest fire near Black River Falls was halted about 10 p.m. Saturday after forcing 1,500 residents in Brockway to evacuate. Eleven firefighting units and hundreds of workers battled 10,000 acres burning as winds could worsen. Authorities cited two ignition points and extended flames toward Fall Hall Glen Road. Evacuees were allowed to return as crews held the line.
