Skylab Voyage 2 Enters Skylab for 59 Day Mission
Three astronauts Alan Bean Owen Garriott and Jack Lousma began waking Skylab 2 from a month long orbital sleep and moving into the space station. They docked successfully with the lab after guiding the Apollo command ship. Lousma reported debris in a circulation screen and a failed fan motor but a spare on board mitigates the issue.

Record Crowd Packs 80 Acre Field For 600000 Rock Show
About 600000 festival goers crowded a 90 acre hillside at Watkins Glen New York for a rock concert at the Grand Prix course. A thundershower turned paths to mud but music continued. Ticket sales did not reflect the crowd with many non ticket holders crashing gates. Seven people died in traffic accidents en route to the concert since Thursday.

Senate backs deeper cuts in election spending
The Senate approved amendments cutting campaign spend limits for presidential, Senate, and House races to about 29.5 million in 1976, with primaries at 10 cents per voter and general elections at 15 cents. A 75 percent rule also trimmed presidential general election spending and a new cap of 25 thousand per donor was set.

Washington AP reports Senate House conferees revised the escalator clause in a four year farm bill to limit its effect to the final two years and align figures with House proposals. They also trimmed food stamp restoration costs and canceled a broad Communist credit provision while delaying the bread tax abolition to July 1, 1973.

Fed moves $5 billion in valuables to new Minneapolis quarters
A cordoned downtown district watched the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis relocate $5 billion in assets to its new building. Mail trucks and moving vans, escorted by armed guards, moved between 2 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. A 250-person security detail included Secret Service, police, and Fed staff. The valuables comprised $312 billion in securities for other banks, $75 million in currency and coin, plus U.S. government bonds.

Prison Rioters Release Hostages Back In Cells
In McAlester Oklahoma State Prison rioters freed their last 11 hostages without harm then returned to cells as police moved into the burned compound to restore order. Two inmates were dead, about 20 injured, and at least a dozen prison buildings burned. Relatives greeted the fleeing hostages while deputies reported maintaining control.
