False Fire Alarms Prompt Police Warning

The Fire Department was summoned twice for false alarms this week. Police Chief Reuben Tesaik warned against further calls. Monday at 6 26 a fire was reported at Mrs Ken Nachtweihs and found to be no fire. Thursday at 7 01 a caller claimed Higgins garage on Shelikof was on fire but no blaze was present.

Coast Guard alerts after 90-ft Salvor grounded near Wrangell

A Coast Guard report says the 2 man crew of the 90-foot Salvor abandoned ship about 60 miles southwest of Wrangell after a grounding. A call was sent for assistance, and a rescue party led by Holly of Betchkan heads to the scene. further details unclear.
