Fishery Hearing Monday Night in Union Hall
The annual hearing on fishing regulations will be held Monday evening at 7 00 pm at the Union Hall by the Fish and Wildlife Service. C Howard Baltzo assistant regional director will probably attend along with Roy L Lindsley local fisheries agent and Clarence Rhode regional FWS director and Dick Shuman fishery biologist if possible. The hearings are held annually to give the public a chance to make recommendations on fishing rules.

Karl Brunstad, a local fisherman and former base employee, left yesterday for Arendahl Norway his birthplace. He flew to Anchor age and will arrive after 30 hours via Northwest Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines. J G Martz, local agent for both firms, mapped the trip. Brunstad has not visited Norway in 30 years and says he plans to buy a round trip ticket to ensure his return.

Local Pilot Injured In Crash At Big Lake Flight
M F Obee O'Brien manager of Chiniak Air Service was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when a 65 hp float plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Big Lake. Witnesses lifted him from wreckage and he was treated at Griffin Memorial Hospital then sent to Portland for special medical care. The Taylorcraft had a wing ripped off and pontoons bent. This was the third Chiniak Air Service crash this summer with others involving a buoy and a hard landing.

Tragedy at Chignik Lagoon Drowns Ten Fishermen
Ten men drowned when a skiff sank near Chignik lagoon early Sunday. Among the lost were Kodiak resident Robert Magnusen and seven others from Chignik and Perryville. two men survived by reaching shore. Search continued with fishing boats and Coast Guard aid. Magnusen married Patricia Wressell earlier this year and had lived in Kodiak.

Chamber To Work For Boat Harbor
The Kodiak Chamber of Commerce held its regular meeting on Thursday focused on securing a small boat harbor. A resolution directed officers to obtain funds from the territorial tobacco tax fund to cover Army Corps of Engineers survey costs and the remaining 50,000 for breakwater approaches, per city clerk blueprints.
