Aged Man Dies In Fire In Ouzinkie Home Destroyed
Sam Wasbrekoff, 58, reported his mother died and his brother Mike, 66, perished in a Sunday evening fire that consumed their home in Ouzinkie. Sam escaped through an upper window as flames and wind raged. Mike had stayed downstairs after elk hunting and did not survive. U S Commissioner Anna May Vokacek ordered burial with no inquest. Second priest Tikon Sheratine led funeral services Tuesday.

Ptarmigan party planes crash near Kaguyak. two survive
A four man Kodiak hunting party in two Aeronca planes faced strong winds at Kaguyak. One unoccupied plane flipped in a lake, later the other plane crashed into a hill during a downdraft. All four men escaped unharmed. salvage and repairs followed as they returned to Kodiak. The party harvested eleven ptarmigan worth $200 each.
