Three Vehicle Wreck Near Lake Louise on Base Highway
A quonset hut being towed by a tractor collided head on with a Navy truck driven by P A Patnoude USN near the south end of Lake Louise on the base highway at about 3 pm Thursday. A taxi owned by Jake LaVollette and driven by Norman Spencer struck the Navy truck from behind. Spencer was unhurt while Patnoude suffered a cut in one leg. Spencer said sun glare blinded him and slowed his taxi before the crash.

Navy Day Open House At Naval Base With Exhibits And Tours
Special transportation exhibits games prizes and other features mark Navy Day celebrations at the naval base inviting public participation. Rescued men on Shuyak Island as search expands
After a two day effort two men were rescued from Shuyak Island north of Kodiak. Navy and CAA personnel overseen by J S Post of Grande Ronde Ore and Mr Hamilton assisted by YMS 434 crew conducted land and air searches for a missing member of the searching party. A plane was dispatched from NAS Kodiak but returned with no findings.

Laundry Fire Injures Dinner Nook Owner Amanda Price
Amanda Price, laundry operator and Dinner Nook owner, is hospitalized with first and second degree burns to arms and face after a Tuesday evening blaze at her S Brooklyn laundry. A volatile cleaning fluid in a tub caused a rapid flash, a window blew out, and a washing area fire spread. George Bamber leaped through flames to rescue Price and toss burning laundry into the tub. Firefighters arrived quickly as separate fires in the floor and walls were fought and suppressed.
