American Legion Post 17 contemplates selling its Community Center and the attached property leased to the city for one dollar a year. Elwood Watson says a sale is possible but details like price and buyer remain undisclosed. A prior suit over the property favored the Legion. A suggested Navy Day route at the base outlines stops to view weather observations exhibits aircraft displays and films. Full Program Set For Navy Day in Kodiak

The Kodiak Navy base opens its gates Wednesday for Navy Day with a half holiday and hundreds expected to visit. From 12 30 to 5 pm a full afternoon of displays, guides, and events will let residents observe the Navy in action. In the morning eight high school students from the base and town serve as naval officers running operations at NOB from 10 am to noon.
