Navy Day events set for October 27 at the Naval Operating Base Kodiak include open ships in port Navy aircraft display diving demonstration and Community Chest drive. Bus service will be increased with extended schedules. The day honors the Continental Congress act of 171 years ago and Roosevelt's Navy policy with the slogan Your Navy Victor in War Guardian in Peace. The base Carnival promises Auto and Home show prizes over 2000 dollars games dancing and refreshments. A plate program will be published next week.

The Kodiak Mercantile Company founded in 1941 by Carl Pajoman was sold to Loran Whittington of City Meat Market and Tom Nachand who runs the store. The deed cites about 20000 total price with 10000 cash and other consideration. A five year lease with a five year renewal was included.
