Russian Church Lights Chandelier After Three-Year Wait
Members of the Russian Women's Club celebrated the installtion of a $1700 chandelier ordered three years ago and lighted during a holiday service led by Father Gerasim Schmatz. The seven by four foot fixture with 22 lights and 1000 Czech crystals was completed by Max Folsom and funded by years of fundraising. The group now seeks donations for rugs as interior improvements amount to about $11,000 spent in three years.

Navy Carnival Set for November Weekend Fundraiser
Tickets on sale in town and the base for a Navy Carnival on Friday and Saturday November 4 and 5. Grand prize includes two Rose Bowl tickets with round trip transport and four days at Hotel Washington Seattle. Welfare Officer Lt J G Taulbee leads the effort to aid base and town charities. The Yellowknife Expediter, a 340 ton all steel Canadian owned diesel vessel, completed its voyage to Aklavik on Great Slave Lake after sailing from Victoria, BC via Kodiak and the Arctic and Beaufort seas. It will haul supplies from Hay River to Yellowknife, a 120 mile trip.

Center Goal Is $6000 For Community Center Drive
About 36 volunteers from across the city will canvass neighborhoods Monday to raise $6000 for the Community Center operating expenses.
