Early Resident Spiridon Patarochin Dies in Kodiak
Spiridon D. Patarochin, 76, longtime Kodiak resident and former sea otter hunter, died Monday after a heart attack. He lived 65 years in Kodiak, owned a sea otter sailboat, and worked as carpenter, watchmaker, shoemaker, cook, fisherman, and bartender. He is survived by several children including Mrs Jack Wagner, Richard Patarochin, and Mrs Byron Saul. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 pm at the Russian Orthodox Church.

Musical Program At Kodiak Public School PTA Event
Members of the Parent-Teacher Association and guests enjoyed a Thursday evening musical program in room 1 at Kodiak Public School. Nancy Fjeldheim played piano, third grade students performed an original song, June Magnusen tap danced, and Carl Smith played accordion. Elizabeth Lautner offered another piano solo, the Girls Quartet sang, Barbara Moffitt played accordion, and selections by the school chorus and orchestra followed.
