Tacoma Plane Crash Increases Death Toll
A four engine military transport inbound from Alaska crashed in fog near McChord Air Force Base killing 86 of 39 aboard. Survivors include two airmen and an eight year old boy. The C-54 left Fairbanks Thursday, stopped at Elmendorf, then flew to Tacoma. Air Force officials say it struck a tree during a ground control approach in heavy fog. Authorities continue searching for other missing aircraft from Alaska, including a C-124 Globemaster with 52 aboard and a C-119 Flying Boxcar with 20 aboard, in separate ongoing efforts amid fog and rain. City To Receive New Ambulance From VFW Gift
