The State Commissioner of Highways announced that S S Mullen Inc of Seattle had the apparent low bid of 1 543 760 for Kodiak paving, with state estimate 1 716 597. The project includes Benson Avenue from Alaska Street to the Mission Mill Bay Road connector, plus curbs gutters and sidewalks. City bids cover lower Mill Bay Road to Kashevaroff Street and Mission Road from Belmont to the hospital, totaling about one half mile within the city. the state program covers roughly two miles, with completion set for July 20, 1965.

Vera Wodlinger died Thursday afternoon in McMinnville Oregon as reported by her husband Larry. A longtime Ko diak resident and businesswoman she owned and operated the Town Child and was involved with Wodlinger Drug. After months of illness she will be buried in McMinnville with Macy and Co Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Marine Corporal Survives 600 Foot Fall From Barometer Mountain
Marine corporal Dennis M. Domino USMC 20 fell about 600 feet from Barometer Mountain last Sunday afternoon. He was found unconscious, sustained head and body injuries with no fractures, and was hospitalized in satisfactory condition at the Naval Station Kodiak Hospital. Domino and LCdr Robert C. Larsen had been hiking when Domino wandered from the path. rescuers credited a slight ledge as a crucial cushion before the fall. Larsen accompanied Domino to the foot of the mountain, where Domino was located about two hours after starting ascent and transported by ambulance to hospital.

Rivers To Visit Dinner Planned In Kodiak Visit
Congressman Ralph J. Rivers will be in Kodiak on November 25 and 26 spending the congressional recess in Alaska visiting communities. Mrs. Rivers will accompany him on the trip. Eight Days Left To Win 1300 in Alaska Centennial Contest
The Alaska State Centennial Commission reminds the public that eight days remain to submit slogan and emblem entries for the 1967 event. The contest closes November 30 and offers $1,000 for the emblem winner and $300 for the slogan winner.
