Foundations For Generators Poured At KEA Plant
Foundations for the two Enterprise generators at Kodiak Electric Association plant have been poured. A representative from Enterprise Company in San Francisco will arrive within 10 days to install them. KEA plant manager Leon Johnson said one foundation was poured on Nov 10 and the other on Wednesday. Oil storage addition to the plant is under construction and work on the distribution system in downtown and Mill Bay Road area continued this week.

Scout Induction at Orpheum Theatre This Afternoon
Induction ceremony for local Boy Scouts today at 2 pm at the Orpheum Theatre. Gene Butler of the Boy Scouts of America will lead the ceremony, and Clarence Williams notes that local troop 65 becomes a full fledged troop. Public invited to attend.

Giant Barn Dance At Kodiak Draws Crowd For Charity
A large crowd attended a fund raising carnival and barn dance sponsored by the Kodiak Retail Liquor Dealers Association. The event at the Kodiak Ice and Cold Storage Company fish shed on the city dock featured a 150 foot bar, eight bartenders, wheels of fortune, games, a nine piece navy orchestra, and special acts. Fifty percent of proceeds go to a community chest fund with the rest distributed to Baptist Mission Griffin Memorial Hospital and the Alaska Crippled Children's Association.

Copter Casualties To Go Outside
Two navy men injured in a helicopter crash were moved from critical to stable and will be flown to Bremerton Navy Hospital. Chief James L. Allen and Seaman Dale A. Lynch had both legs severed below the knee, with Allen missing part of a thumb and index finger. They received plasma and blood transfusions as donors surged to help. Mrs. Allen accompanies them.

Latvian Displaced Family Finds Home in Kodiak
A Latvian family of three displaced from Germany arrives in Kodiak to live in a five room house funded by Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Alvine. Ansis Antons, 63, his wife, 53, and their 27-year-old son Ervins, arrived after years in a DP camp. They left Latvia before 1945 and spoke of grateful hosts and a life similar to Latvia.

Postmaster Asks Pick Up Packages This Christmas
Postmaster Maurice Briggs urges those with C O D and prepaid parcels to call at once as the post office struggles with an overflow of Christmas mail. The rear of the building was stacked with sacks as clerks distribute the influx. Christmas cards sent with 14 cent stamps will now require two cents. Cards mailed with a three cent stamp have the best chance of delivery if the addressee cannot be found. two cent stamped cards cannot include writing and no direct delivery service is provided.

Smith Seeks Euthanizing of His Dogs
Police destroyed two Doberman pinschers on Tuesday after owner Talmage L. Smith requested the action. The kennels were left open and the dogs were roaming the town. A three and a half month old cocker spaniel owned by H. E. Spencer was killed by the Dobermans, according to Spencer. Smith claimed his dogs had killed the spaniel and noted one of the Dobermans was ill.
