A capacity crowd filled the University of Alaska gymnasium now Convention Hall as Gov BE Frank Heintzleman opened a constitutional convention. Delegates Bartlett Ernest Gruening attended with a Eskimo pastor Rev Roy Ahmoagak delivering the invocation and Bartlett delivering the second keynote. The convention debated public access to committee meetings with a watering down approved rule allowing open or closed proceedings per committee decision.

Flora Saracoff appeared before the U.S. Commissioner's Court on a larceny charge for stealing a barrel of fish from Thomas R. Clampfter's home. Suspension of Stock Sale Rights Hits Alaska Venture

The Pacific Alaska Land Livestock Co. had its right to sell stock suspended by the SEC amid claims of fraud and deceit. President Cline S. Koonz of Fairbanks organized the venture to raise funds for beef cattle marketing on islands off the Alaskan peninsula. The offering, under $300000, faced a temporary exemption withdrawal. The commission may hold a hearing and has not received a reply from the company. Peter Gruening, 32, United Presser and son of former Alaska governor Ernest Gruening, was found dead in his car near Sydney. He had been U.S. Air Force bomber pilot in WWII and was cremated in Australia. ashes to Washington, D.C. will be transported by his brother Hunt.
