Program Changed At Legion Hall

Game night at the Legion hall will be discontinued until further notice due to lack of interest. Reuben Tiny Tesarik, director, said yesterday. Monday night dances will continue as will the Saturday night program and the Sunday night social hour. Dances and social hour have been well attended.

Alaska's tourist industry urged as cash register

Alaska Visitors Association leader Herb Hirscher told Kodiak Chamber members the tourist trade could reach a hundred million dollars, with capital funds and road improvements key. Antonio Polet urged hospitality to attract visitors and warned to avoid deterring tourists, linking events like the Fur Rendezvous and Matanuska Fair to tourism. Donations for road advocacy and AGRA stickers were planned to fund road projects and legislative support.

Decision Monday In MacDonald Suit

Decisions in two suits between H F MacDonald owner Kodiak Cold Storage Co and the City of Kodiak will be delivered Monday by Commissioner A M Vokacek after a Thursday hearing. The city seeks 78.50 for an unpaid water bill while MacDonald seeks over 1000 in damages for alleged plant harm during a water outage last year. Indicted for Murder in Truman Attempt Case

A federal grand jury indicted Oscar Collazo, 37, Puerto Rican, for murder in the Nov 1 attempt on President Truman. The charge centers on the killing of White House guard Leslie Coffelt as Col lazo and Griselio Torresola opened fire. Torresola died in the attack. other guards returned fire.
