Leo Tyler of the Kodiak Amusement Company sold his interest in the American Legion Club to Frank Rick, the manager, according to an announcement by both parties. Tyler said he wished the club continued success and that he would devote full time to his other interests.

The Grey Nuns of Philadelphia, aided by Father Gallant, secured final approval to take over Griffin Memorial hospital and were to assume control at midnight. Freak Fire at Kodiak Mercantile Store Leaves Mystery

A freak electrical short at the Kodiak Mercantile store triggered a 3 40 am alarm. Night patrolman George Magnusen saw smoke and sparks from a rear eave, prompting fire crews who used chemicals on smoldering cave. Manager Paul Fretts reported small roof flames and live wires. An attempt to locate the fault will be made Sunday.

Named A. A. Sumerlin and Robert C. King were named as new directors of the KEA at the director's meeting Monday night. They replace two resignations Emil Knudsen and Miss A. M. Elvin Foster, skating for the first time, fell on the lake behind Beachcomer and needed four stitches near his left eye. Conditions on Mission Road and Mill Bay Road lakes were good until rain yesterday. Ice on Little Lake behind the Montmartre stood at a thickness of one and a half inches on Wednesday.
