Presidential Race Decided Tuesday Clash With Night Accident

A Kodiak man, 59, Hans Reeman, was found after 12 hours trapped in a toppled light delivery truck off Mill Bay Road. He suffered a broken back, lacerations, and was semi conscious when rescued by Mr. and Mrs. Maddux and rushed to the hospital. The crash left the Ford pickup on its side after striking a spruce, with Reeman unable to recall details. Local officials noted his San Francisco birth in 1893 and lack of known kin. Man Survives Fall Over Cliff Near Base

James Watkins, a civilian base worker, stepped over a cliff while returning with two colleagues. Found among rocks near the slide at foot of the cliff, he was bruised and cut, then transported to Griffin Memorial hospital by Navy ambulance after a night search led by Ovid McKinley and Clarence Dizney.

The Air Facilitation Commission says Alaska Natives leaving for the states after December 24 will face a painless immigration check. Airlines passengers are to be examined at Anchorage airport before departure, and boat passengers in Seattle. Ordinary identification suffices, per Paul Clumpner.

Stove Explodes Aboard Wafico 21 Burned Fisherman

Lew Peters was burned about the arms and legs when a kerosene stove exploded aboard the fishing boat Wafico No. 21 tied to Island Seafoods Cannery. He moved the stove off the boat around 9 pm. no damage to the vessel. Mrs Grace Stafford was an incoming PNA passenger.

Mink Released On Island News Flash

Mink were released on Kodiak Island by Russell Hoffman of the Fish and Wildlife Service. A shipment of 24 fur bearing animals arrived by air from Juneau, believed raised at Petersburg. Hoffman flew in a Navy plane to release them. Another shipment of marten is expected, with prior releases on Afognak and Kodiak Island. Jack Warren traveled as a PNA passenger for Homer.
