Independent gear deliveries will pay 37 cents pinks 42 cents chums 85 cents reds 78 cents silvers and 2.60 dollars kings. Masonic Classes To Be Held In Kodiak
Fifteen local Masons will attend a class of instruction in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry at the Kodiak Masonic Temple on Mill Bay Road. A degree team of five Scottish Rite Masons from Juneau will lead the sessions Monday to Wednesday and seek aid from local Scottish Rite Masons. The class seeks degrees from the fourth through the 32nd. The five-degree team members are Arthur A. Hedges, Kenneth G. Merritt, Howard D. Stablee, Royal M. Donelson and Walter B. Heigel. They are due to arrive on Monday on the Pacific Northern Airlines flight.

VFW Poppy Sale Marks 31st Nationwide Drive

Clean Up Continues City campaign picks up debris this week

Seamen from two AFL unions refused to sign aboard three Alaska Steamship Company vessels the Aleutian Coastal Monarch and Victoria amid a labor dispute. Union leaders accuse ASC of flouting a recent NLRB ruling and hiring excess crew from a rival Marine Cooks and Stewards Union. The Coastal Rambler bound for Kodiak is due to dock Monday morning.

Former Resident Wallace dies in Portland hospital
William Wallace known as Spike, a former Roads and Runways quarterman at Kodiak Naval Station, died Monday night at about 11:30 in a Portland hospital. Funeral services were set for today at Portland Family Funeral Home with burial in Wickenburg Arizona. He served at KNS 1945 to 1951 and worked on the Alcan Highway during World War II. Survived by wife Ruby and four children, he was a charter member of Kodiak BPOE 1772.

Local Youth Held For Grand Jury
A 20 year old youth, Richard Leroy Larson, is held in the U S Federal Jail on a charge of attempted burglary in a dwelling. He was bound over to the Grand Jury by U S Commissioner A M Vokacek after a preliminary hearing this week. Larson allegedly tried to enter Jay Wolf s apartment in the Kodiak Cleaners Building through a window early May 16. Wolf testified he woke, saw the intruder, and Larson claimed he was seeking Tommy. Larson was arrested Friday by Acting Chief Ovid McKinley based on Wolf s description and clothing identified as evidence. He denied the charges. A separate city notice concerns delinquent tax property, with sale proposed after a four week publication, two year redemption, and tax deed options. No sale date set. Paul Dupler will report to council Monday.
