The Armed Forces Day parade assembles at 9 30 with two bands five floats and ten marching units. Salute will be from the reviewing stand under the Bank of Kodiak marquee with Armed Forces officials civic leaders and Gold Star Mothers present. Parade marshal Captain J P Nixon assisted by Lt J W Mac Mullen and Lt K L Kilmer.

Legion Auxiliary Poppy Day Opens in Kodiak
The American Legion Auxiliary will sell poppies today in Kodiak as part of Poppy Day nationwide. The memorial poppy combines seven crepe paper pieces with two wires, designed to provide therapeutic work for disabled veterans at minimal material cost. The VFW Auxiliary had earlier announced poppy sales for May 24.

Halibut Fishing Violations Highlight Alaska Case
Six Seattle fishermen pled guilty in WU S court to attempting to catch halibut before the open season. The Alma J. and others were observed near Kodiak by a Fish and Wildlife Service agent aboard a Coast Guard patrol. Capt. Johansen fined $300. crew fined $175 each. A 844 pound halibut seized sold for $68. The halibut season for area 3A opened May 14 with a 28 million pound quota.

Baby Show Set For Tomorrow In Kodiak
Judges announced for the annual Ko diak baby show to be held tomorrow at 1 pm at the USC Club sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary. Ivor Schott Kodiak school superintendent Donald Lawvere naval station school superintendent and Chaplain Peter McPhee will pick the winners. Prizes include loving cups for walking babies and small cups for babies in arms with additional prizes and U S Savings Bonds purchased by local merchants. The public is invited to attend.

City of Kodiak authorized by council to buy materials for complete reconstruction of the city dock. Territorial highway fund approval received for $50,000.
