Clean-up Under Way in Kodiak With Community Support
Kodiak launches a week long spring clean up under city council approval and Chamber of Commerce sponsorship. Dr A Holmes Johnson chairs the effort with Ken Wade directing youth volunteers. The start at 11 am today on the community center grounds precedes area r整gistration and a post cleanup Wiener roast. Bob Hall funds plane rides for top four volunteers and the chamber provides 25 dollars for publicity.

Thirteen Lucky For 15 Iceels Out
The 13th of May proved a lucky moment for fifteen Nenana Ice Pool winners. At 1:13 am Thursday the ice broke, splitting $150,000 among several winners none from Kodiak. The break came with spectacular suddenness, timing exactly on the minute amid late predictions that it would occur after May 16. Kraft and Son employees held 935 tickets, missing the winning minute by a day and a half for two years.

Louis Jensen Found Dead in Kodiak Home
Louis Jensen, longtime Kodiak resident and former butcher for Oscar Breedman and Jack McCord, was found dead at his home near the hospital Wednesday evening by George McKay. Jensen, born July 19, 1830 in Brooklyn, had lived in Kodiak about 18 years since coming from the interior and Alaska in the 1890s. He is survived by his sister Mrs. C. Goodland of Seattle and is believed to have a son in Hoona. funeral arrangements await word from Mrs. Goodland.

Father Fink Urges Wealth Not Goal For Graduates
Father Louis B. Fink Sr. told the high school graduating class that prayer and virtue matter more than wealth. He warned students not to chase money, noting success and happiness come without excessive riches. Two awards were given: a $250 VFW prize to Edward Naughton and a University of Alaska scholarship to valedictorian Donna Frost. Eighth graders also received diplomas and praise from Mrs. Mark Meyer for the class proving to be an asset to the school.

Floating court to visit during district hearing tour
