PNA Cancels Sunday Flight due to fuel curtailment
Pacific Northern Airlines canceled its regular Anchorage flight tomorrow because of curtailment in fuel use. Lt. Gen. Kepner said the petroleum industry strike has caused strict fuel restrictions in the Alaska Military Command. Alfred M. Moers, 20, Kodiak Naval Station sailor, was fined $225 for illegally shooting a deer near Cliff Point and surrendered a .22 rifle used in the incident.

Catholic Bishop Visits Parish In Kodiak This Weekend

Navy officials in the 17th Naval District confirmed that the elliptical object found near Spruce Cape and displayed at the Kodiak Electric Association plant is a fuel flask from a U S Navy Mark 14 torpedo. The artifact may trace to a World War II relic or a practice torpedo shot, with theories ranging from the South Pacific to Japan.

Carpenters Strike Halts Kodiak Projects Across Alaska
A nationwide carpenters strike idles about 75 workers in Kodiak and at Kodiak Naval Station while 3,500 carpenters walk off. The AGC sues the Carpenters International for 5 million dollars after wage talks failed, as Krafts building and other projects stall. Anchorage and Fairbanks hit hardest with 2,000 and 1,000 idle respectively. Wages seek 41 cents an hour rise to 3.56, contractors offer 25 cents to 3.89. AGC seeks 123,500 daily damages. The wage fight was to be decided by the Wage Stabilization Board, but talks broke down.

Coast Guard Cowboy Arrested After Nighttime Gunfire
A Coast Guardsman, Donald W. Klamrowski, 21, fired a .88 revolver in the town near the city dock late Thursday. Five shots were reported, police and deputy marshals responded, and he was disarmed by Coast Guard personnel. He faces charges of discharging a firearm within a city and possession of a firearm while intoxicated, held overnight in federal jail, awaiting trial.
