Kodiak May Be Site For Fish Program
A four year Alaska fish rehabilitation program may start in 1957 with a $3 million budget. Senator Magnusen indicated potential $700,000 from Saltonstall Act funds, plus predator control measures. Initial Kodiak Afognak Island area tasks include predation control, feeding Red salmon, and starting lake rehabilitation projects at Kitoi Bay and nearby sites. A portable hatchery would serve the Kodiak Afognak area with capacity for four to eight million fry.
