Car Over Cliff Kills Navy Man at Gibson Cove
A Ford panel truck carrying three sailors plunged over Dead Man's Curve near Gibson Cove at 9:15 p.m. Sunday. Clifton Lewis Keyes, steward third class, driver, 24, was killed. Agnew Bryant and Jewel Kinney, both stewards, were injured and treated at the base dispensary. Keyes is survived by his wife Juet and a 4-year-old daughter Joyce in Kodiak. funeral arrangements not yet made.

Death Calls Tony Kvas in Kodiak Legacy
Tony Kvas 57 owner of Tony's Bar and Tony's Liquor Store and longtime Kodiak resident died Monday in Seattle after 18 months in a sanitarium. He is survived by his widow Goldie and a sister in Cleveland. He came to Kodiak in the 1920s, built Kodiak Hall, opened a restaurant, then converted it to a liquor store in 1939 and added a bar to the hall. Mrs. Kvas left for Seattle and funeral arrangements were pending.
