Broken Russian Tongass breaks in two in storm

At least 15 persons appear to be lost after the Russian tanker Tongass split in two in a storm about 300 miles southeast of Allak on February 17. The crew's rescue effort ended when lifeboats and life rafts were found in the area. The American tanker Puente Hills, carrying 47 people rescued from the Tongass aft section, tow south toward safety.
