The city council met at city hall in regular session Monday. Mayor Nick Miell and council members heard resignations and appointments, set taxes at 20 mills, and approved funding for road work, a municipal dock study, and fire service matters. Announcement that W. J. Erskine company transfers its water system to Kodiak Water Works as of June 30. All nonowned pipes along the main line will be severed after July 1 and reconnected later by application. The move aims to clarify ownership, not deny water, and follows lease of dock properties to Kodiak Dock and Warehouse Company amid Erskine’s illness and hospital care. Local management will stay with P Watkinson until Mr. Erskine recovers and the new offices are set up.
In answer to a telegraphic inquiry to the Collector of Internal Revenue at Tacoma local attorney Warren A. Taylor received a reply that the second quarterly installment of the income tax was due June 15. The payment is due despite the new income tax law.
