Ted Kozak Resigns From KEA

Ted Kozak resigns as Kodiak Electric Association manager effective August 15 after two years in the post. The KEA board releases him immediately and searches for a replacement, with John Farrow serving as acting manager. Carnival and Raffle Netted Four Thousand Five Hundred

Kodiak Rotary activities on the Fourth of July raised over 4500 for local recreational projects. President James G. Martz and Chairman Ray Martin announced profits from the car raffle totaling 3134 for the community playground and recreation fund while the carnival brought in 1368 for the community center. Deputy Marshal Paul Herring attended a funeral in Seattle for Dr. Thomas G. Sutherland. Dr. Sutherland practiced medicine in Cordova from 1932 to 1936 and is well known by many residents.

Body Identified as Missing 13 Year Old From Karlak

The headless torso found near Holiday Is has been identified as Harry Antonsen 13 of Karlak who left in February for Kodiak and disappeared. His father Guet Antonsen arrived from Karint this week and identified the body by a t shirt remnant and belt. Deputy Marshall Pas Herring reported the boy was first listed missing in February after his father wired that he left Karink to join navy or Army Transport Service but no enlistment record was found. A coroner's jury earlier could not identify the body or cause of death. The dead boy was nephew of Mary Gallagher and Ammer Anderson of Kodiak.

B 29s Sent To Europe

The Air Force said sixty B 29s are en route to England for a short training visit. In England the planes will be guests of the RAF and use three bases for operations with possible training flights to American bases in Germany. The move boosts U S air strength in Europe amid Soviet threats to close the Berlin air corridor. Berlin reports note Russia warned of patrols over the 20 mile wide corridor as Western aircraft deliver supplies.
