Group Aids March Of Dimes Campaign Effort
The local BPW chapter in Kodiak continues fundraising for the 1950 March of Dimes to fight infantile paralysis. About 50 jars are placed in local businesses for donations, chaired by Irene Brooks. A BPW dance at the Elks Club and a baked goods sale at City Market support the drive started Jan 16 under Chaplains Weise and D Angelo.

Trapping Opens Feb One In Ko diak Afognak Island Area
Beaver trapping starts February 1 and runs to March 31 in the Ko diak Afognak Island group for the first time since 1929. Residents over 11 may trap, over 16 require a license. non residents need a license regardless of age. Trap limit ten beavers per trapper. Hunters may use steel traps or snares and may not shoot. No beaver skins may be exported until sealed. Pelts can be sealed at the Fish and Wildlife Service office.

Anchorage Honeymooners Tie Knot in Kodiak Visit
Margaret LaBrie owner of an Anchorage restaurant and Clifford Ladley engineer wed on Wednesday in a ceremony led by Chaplain John W. Wese of NOB. The couple arrived by PNA Wednesday afternoon and plan to return to Anchorage tomorrow or Monday.

Pat Cannon Files to Run for Territorial House
W. A. Pat Cannon president of the United Fishermen of Alaska filed his candidacy for the Territorial House as a Democratic candidate. He is Kodiak’s first resident to enter the primaries this year, having previously run in 1948 but lost. A Kodiak Democratic Club spokesman said a mid February meeting will draft plans and resolutions for submission to the Third Division Democratic committee on March 23.

Plane Leaves For Port Heiden
A single engined bi-plane piloted by Chuck Kirk left Kodiak for Port Heiden Wednesday after stopping at Bob Hall Air Service for minor repairs. Repairs to the plane known as a Duck were made by Kirk. He plans to haul freight out of Port Heiden. Mrs. Marshall Crutcher has gone to Berkeley California for a several weeks visit there with her son and daughter in law Lewis Crutcher.

Collins Hangar Moves Base To New Beachfront Site
Collins Air Service will relocate its base from the Dumas property at Spruce Street foot to the Beachcombers lot across from the Beachcombers. Pilot Paul Hansen said notice to vacate was received and the lease on the Dumas property expired in October. Title to the new site is held by five men: John Gibbons, Tommy Gallagher, Lee Bettinger, Loren Whittington, and Wayne Waldrip. A spokesman gave no reason for the eviction notice.

New American Legion Auxiliary Install Officers in Clubroom
