Three Mailboat Crew Die After Dory Capsizes
Three crew members of the Aleutian Mail died in a second mishap after a previous rock collision near Wrimik Island last week. Brad Benge from Brownsburg Indiana Reynolds Gilbert and Bernard Anderson from Squaw Harbor were lost after leaving the mailboat at Sand Point to shore. They were last seen January 15 and the dory was found ashore with its motor nearby. Bodies of Gilbert and Benge recovered. Weather was windy when they left. The Aleutian Mail towed by Mataco was making temporary repairs at the naval base to reach Seattle for final repair.
