Local Boys Staying In Army

Two Kodiak Alaska youths enlist in the regular Army for one year. Jacob Osbekoff, a fifth grader, served in the Aleutians since 1945 and will take a 60 day furlough before new duty. his mother Mary P. Osbekoff lives in Kodiak. Patrick Julius Anderson, also of Kodiak, a seaman since 1945, will take a 30 day furlough and was sworn into the Army the day after his honorable discharge. his parents are Mr. and Mrs. Julius Anderson of Kodiak.

Rent rules amended to allow ceiling rents based on March 1942 prevailing rates

The UPA may fix ceiling rents on new housing units by determining the generally prevailing rent for comparable accommodations as of March 1942 and adding an allowance to cover increased construction costs since 1939.

Bartlett aims to bill for Alaska travel home costs

Delegate Bartlett announced plans to introduce legislation to authorize the services to pay the actual cost of trips home for Alaskan delegates and to reimburse those who have already overspent their allowances.
