M Sgt Archie Zehe USA, ACS Station Commander in Kodiak since 1932, extended his enlistment and now nears retirement after 19 years in the service and fifteen years serving Kodiak. He and his wife Phillis, with three children, are active locals in the Elks Lodge and Rotary Club. Zehe plans to retire in Kodiak, calling it home.

C-47 Will Carry CAP To Area Meet
At least six members of the Kodiak Civil Air Patrol squadron will attend the Annual Wing Area Conference in Anchorage in January 2021. Lt. Vessel in distress near Kodiak after taking on water
The 75 foot vessel Lucky Star radioed for Coast Guard help from Geographic Bay 65 miles west of Kodiak Island reporting its bow taking water. The CG Cutter Bittersweet escorted the vessel to Kodiak where it is moored for bow hole repairs.

Rivers seeks delay on Alaska unemployment fund debt
Rep Ralph Rivers said he will attempt a down to wire push to postpone Alaska payments on the unemployment compensation fund debt due this month but his one year moratorium bill is unlikely to clear Congress and be signed before January 31 when the first installment is due. Governor Egan and State Democratic Chairman Wendell Kay met in Juneau in a dramatic 90 minute session that may end their public feud. Lt Col Dan Mahoney said only 26 men will be called in February, far fewer than the 85 summoned in November.
