Funeral Services Held For Father C. R. King
Cecil Robert King a Kodiak priest for 21 years died December 24 at 72. Rites were read at the Russian Church by Rev. Alexander Popoff and Fr. Gerasim Schmaltz. Burial beside his wife, memorials at Seattle’s Cathedral of St. Nicholas. Survived by ten children and 20 grandchildren. He had lived in Kodiak most of his life except a Seattle stay in 1950 1951.

Casino Rebuilding Underway After Fire
Al Collins, owner, announced remodeling plans for the fire swept Casino. Damage is estimated around 15000, fires started in the basement of the concrete building on Christmas morning. Kodiak Fire Department and Naval Station crews fought the blaze for hours as spectators watched. Collins hopes to reopen in three months if materials are secured, with extensive damage to the main room, bar, kitchen, and living quarters. Insurance coverage is anticipated.

Grandmothers Plan Kodiak Club In Legions Hall
The Kodiak Grandmother Club starts with a 2:30 pm meeting at the Legion Building today. Organizer Mrs Beth Weldon says a minimum of 10 applicants forms a chapter and the group aims to join the National Federation of Grandmother Clubs of America to promote social, charitable and educational aims and to back a National Grandmother's Day and Haven Fund.
