Survivors Set Wedding Date After Spencer Sea Disaster
Alva Skonberg and Axel Carlson survivors of the Spencer wreck will wed Sunday evening March 7 in the Rusian Church with Father Gregory Gleb officiating. They will stay in Kodiak about a week before heading on the next Denali to Seattle for hospitalization of Mr Carlson and others injured in the shipwreck near Kana tak on New Year’s Eve. Gus Skonberg and four other hospital-bound men are joining the family. Mrs Skonberg was aboard the Spencer.

Freighter Square Knot Docked and Departed With Freight
The freighter Square Knot tied up at the city dock shortly after 8 am Thursday and departed the same evening after unloading freight and town mail. The mail, previously reported as pilfered en route, was brought on a commercial vessel chartered to the army rather than a Coast Guard boat.

Elk Elks Jamboree Draws 100 Plus From Anchorage
More than 100 Anchorage residents have reserved to fly to Kodiak in two chartered planes for the Elks Jamboree and initiation next Saturday. Delegations from Fairbanks and Seward are expected. Navy Flies Chignik Woman to Hospital
Mrs Iver Wallin of Chignik was flown to Kodiak by Navy PBY after a call said she was in a coma following a stillbirth and prior fall. A doctor and nurse accompanied the patient, who received oxygen on board, then reached Kodiak for ambulance transport. Weeks Dies After Poisoning Attempt Incident
Carl Woche, once of Kod iak, who reportedly saved himself after a prior poison plan in Anchorage, drank poisonous cleaning fluid again this week. A companion who drank with him died, but Woche is expected to recover according to a local radio report.

Power outages hit Kodiak amid second February storm
Storms again disrupted Kodiak as an electrical distribution collapse halted most town activity. Ted Rozak warned the second outage was worse than the first, with about 5 miles of wires downed by ice and snow. Estimated repair costs approached $2,000, and poles behind Clark's Garage Kraft’s and the Town Club were downed with transformers. Power was restored to key sites by Wednesday night and Thursday, as KEA crews cleared lines and prepared fixes.
