General John Noyes Dies After Arctic Plane Crash
Brig. Gen. John R. Noyes died in a Nome hospital from injuries after a plane crash in the Arctic. Pilot Maj. Robert Kolb and two others survived. Noyes had led the Alaska National Guard since his 1953 retirement and arrived in the Territory in 1926.
