A Kodiak Realty & Investment Co. weighs a tentative plan for a three story L shaped building on company land by deputy A S Mark Paul Herring and the fiscal jail behind Felder building on tiny Main street. Local bus service planned by Teamsters Local 500
A new shoppers bus line will start this week using a ton wagon ready for service. Vincent Root supplied the vehicle and Hoot Cassidy will drive. Fares run 25 cents for adults and 10 cents for children with 8 am start from Polar Bear and hourly until 6 15 pm. The route covers Mission road to Brooklyn avenue. The Teamsters also cut Beachcombers and Montmartre fares to 2 and 1 dollars. Warren A. Taylor, Fairbanks attorney, arrived by plane and represents local liquor dealers in pending OPA overcharge cases, with a possible compromise.

Mayor Torger son and volunteers organized a belated March of Dimes collection after delivery delays. Milk bottles and placards were set at strategic town points to invite voluntary public contributions. Half the funds support the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, the rest stay in the Territory for local work.

Father Gerasim Denies Rasputin Link Upon Alaska Arrival
Father Gerasim Schmaltz arrived in Kodiak on the Cordova from Ouzinkie and learned he had been linked to Rasputin in a United Press series. He denied the claim firmly, noting his birth in Alexia, Russia in 1888, not Rasputin’s Siberian origins, and said the Rasputin tale is a big lie. He recalled coming to Alaska in 1917 after initial work in Sitka and denied ever knowing Rasputin or attending school with him.

Letter to Marshal Criticizes Alaska Towns for Liquor
Citizens near the line district sent a plea to U S Marshal James H Patterson division Anchorage. Patterson replied sharply blaming Alaska towns for liquor and prostitution naming Anchorage and Kodiak as examples of decay. He warned that normal times would restore only a few good buildings amid shacks and ragged children. The letter requested action to close the line.
Demos Lead in Territorial Special Election Results
In last Tuesday's special election Territorial candidates endorsed by the Central Labor Council led. McCutcheon and Warren kept front positions as outlying precincts reported votes with totals: McCutcheon 934, Warren 1202, Englebreth 730, Walkowski 473, Griffen 248, Wagner 1077. Anchorage favored Republicans with Englebreth 446, McCutcheon 421, Walkowski 352, Wagner 682, Warep 60 percent.
