Cedar Rescues Three From Augustine Island
Three people stranded on Augustine Island in Kamishak Bay were rescued by the Coast Guard Cutter Cedar after a December voyage from Kodiak. The Walbushes and Adolph Jacobson, workers for Karmalite Corp, had warned Anchorage of dwindling food on November 28. A rescue C-47 had dropped emergency rations, but rough seas delayed a boat pickup until the Cedar reached the area and guided them to safety.
