Former Cannery Official Dies in Seattle at 61
Edward Brennan, 61, longtime figure in the fishing industry, died Saturday in Seattle. He previously served as general manager of P. E. Harris Co and later as president of Haines Packing Co. He also held directing posts with the Association of Pacific Fisheries and Alaska Salmon Industry, Inc.

All Churches Join Xmas Pageant in Kodiak
All churches and religious groups in Kodiak unite with Hillside and Star of the Sea Chapels at Kodiak Naval Station to present a Christ man Pageant of the Nativity. Support comes from the Russian Greek Orthodox Church and the Christian Science Group. St Marys Catholic Church, the Church of God, and Community Baptist Church also participate. The men’s choir is full. more sopranos and altos are needed. Rehearsals in Kodiak are Thursdays 7:30 to 9 pm at the Baptist Church. Naval Station residents may rehearse Tuesdays and Fridays at Hillside Chapel 8 to 9:30 pm. Volunteers call Mrs. McPhee at Navy 642.

A carnival at the schoolhouse opens at six with a buffet supper inviting Kodiak residents. Each grade performs acts. younger room acts end at 9, older grades continue to midnight. Fourth graders showcase acrobatics, fifth graders host a cherry tree prize seller, a House of Horrors by freshmen, penny toss by sophomores, a ham burger stand by juniors, and a seniors led dance assisting freshmen. A 20 year grazing lease for 26920 acres from Otmeloi Point to Sharatin Bay is granted to Jake Foley, with Anton Larsen Bay included. The United States government leases the land to Jacob H. and Jean Foley. Andrews family now resides at Anton Larsen Bay. Foley owns cattle there. Andrews arrived from the states three months ago. The lease area lies opposite Ouzinkie.

Several East Addition lots are offered for sale at appraised prices from 250 to 300 dollars, with purchase by cashier or certified check to the U S Treasurer and mail to the Anchorage Land Office. The East Addition plat is on file at Kodiak City Clerk’s office.

Centenarian at Old Harbor celebrates 100th birthday
Mrs. Stephanida Inga of Old Harbor marked a century on November 27. A longtime resident of the Island village, she lives alone and remains active. Her two sons Innokenty, 71, and Alexis, 69, also reside in Old Harbor. She is believed the oldest resident on Kodiak Island.
